Summer Festivities of Early Music Prague - Czech Republic since 2000
International music festival
Since its establishment in 2000 the festival has gained a prestigious position on the international musical scene. As the only early music festival in Prague with a discovering, yet highly attractive dramaturgy, it has developed into one of the key musical events taking place in the Czech Republic. The festival programmes presented by renowned international soloists and ensembles, such as for example Andrew Manze, Peter Kooij, Philippe Jaroussky, Erik Van Nevel, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Mudejar, Les Cornets Noirs, Phantasm or Florilegium, show to the variability and mutual interconnection of European cultures which have existed in music since early history. One of the traditional and recognized prerogatives of the festival is the careful choice of venues; concerts and performances take place in unique and stylistically appropriate historical locations of Prague palaces, churches and gardens such as for example Troja Chateau, Břevnov Monastery, Bertramka, Chateau Zbraslav or Lichtenstein Palace. Summer Festivities of Early Music have become integral part of the Prague musical scene and an event of an international renown.
